                  Our Day: The Arts

                  Fine Art and Hand Crafts
We offer art or crafts instruction almost every afternoon and Friday morning, with specific activities emerging organically from the topics we study. For example, during a unit on Australia, students studied aboriginal art and created dot paintings, masks, and rainbow serpents. While studying Antarctica, they made detailed miniature sculptures of animals indigenous to the area.

                  Music
Music is similarly integrated, with students learning about the music of the period of history or region they are studying and sometimes creating musical performances inspired by the curriculum.

                  Performance
Students have several opportunities to perform during the year, both for the TNCA family and for the larger community at local venues like the Lake Eden Arts Festival and Biltmore Estate. In developing and preparing for performances, we explore movement, drama, and voice, as well as direction, production, and set and costume design. Past performances have included singing, full-length musical plays, puppet theater, short dramatic readings, and talent shows.
